A round up of walks in June

Pressure of work meant that I just didn't have time to upload my walks from June but as I'm now on my Christmas break I can update my walking diary.

June 13th

I met with Mel and Paul for a walk in the Yorkshire Dales. Our route started from Buckden, we climbed away from the village on Buckden Rake then we followed the path up to Buckden Pike. From the Pike we followed the path past the memorial and came down off the moor following Walden road to Starbotton. After crossing the Wharfe we followed a beautiful track through wild flower meadows along the river back to Buckden. We covered around 8 miles with around 18ft of ascent

Back to the Lakes for Sue and I. We tackled Skiddaw Dodd in the morning then after lunch we drove up to Binsey

We covered around 4 and a half miles and 1500ft of ascent

The walk from Binsey cottage to the top is very simple and covers less than two miles with around 700 ft of climbing

June 27th

Today we added Stone Authur and Nab Scar to our Wainwright bagging totals.

From Grasmere we climbed the steep in places path to Stone Authur then climbed towards Great Rigg from where we performed a U turn to come back down the ridge over Heron Crag and Nab Scar thenback along the coffin route to Grasmere. We walked around 7 miles and climbed around 2400 ft

Previous walk  - Honister to Braithwaite - Next walk - Border End and a walk back to Eskdale
