Just a few pictures from a wet and misty walk to Helvellyn. Apart from an outing in the snow earlier this year I seem to have not had much luck with the weather on Helvellyn and today was no different.
We climbed over Seat Sandal first following the steep path through the bracken.
Looking over to Raise Beck.
The rain came as we reached the summit of Seat Sandal and only let up after we had descended by the wall and were passing Grisedale tarn..
Sue and Lynn on the Dollywagon zig zags.
This little bit of blue sky gave us some hope that the weather would improve.
Unfortunately not though and the rain came again as we reached the top of the zig zags and continued all over Dollywagon and Nethermost. This is Helvellyn top from the shelter.
No views until we reached the top of the path down through Comb Crags. Thirlmere still looks very low.
Thirlmere from inside a cloud.
We carefully pick our way down the wet and slippy rocks of the path into the Comb..
Wythburn seen from near the bottom of the descent.
It's dry as we walk along the forest road..
Very impressive flow down Birkside Gill.
