I Joined Sue, Lynn, Helen and Catherine for a lovely stroll exploring Black Combe and a few of its adjoining fells.
We parked in a lay-by on the A595 near Townend Hall and local girl Helen guided us up on to the fell on a very nicely graded path.
The air was very clear so the long range views were excellent. This looking up the coast to St.Bees head with Dumfries and Galloway behind.
Catherine and Helen heading to the minor top and great view point of Seaness. .Black Combe behind
The girls on Seaness.
Looking down the Lancashire coast. Blackpool Tower on the right
Catherine's dogs were always ready to play but there is a definite lack of sticks on the slopes of Black Combe. They were reduced to chasing a bit of bracken.
Climbing up.
Millom in the sun..
The obligatory Sellafield pic'
Black Combe Tarn.
Looking to the Giants of Lakeland with Scafell on the left leading round to the distinctive pointed "mountain" shape of Bowfell.
